How well do the children serve tea and bathe their parents’ feet?

The physical celebration of Parents Appreciation Day was suspended for three years due to the pandemic. On this day, children aged two to six served tea bathed their parents’ feet, fed their parents, and gave them a simple massage. They even presented their handmade gifts to their parents and did a sign language performance to express their love for their parents at Tzu Chi Great Love Preschool.

A series of heart-warming gestures were seen at Tzu Chi Great Love Preschool on Parents Appreciation Day.

Parent, Yeo Hui Yi: He is thrilled. He has been looking forward to this day since yesterday!

Parent, Danny Suyanto: It's a small gesture, but today it's their turn to do it for us. Finally, my daughter is starting to grow up.

Parent, Chay Sin Ying: I’m very touched, the sip of tea was particularly sweet

Teacher: Don't put the tray on their lap. Not yet, because you have to listen to instructions. The instruction is Please kneel

Under the guidance of their teachers, little children from two to six years old served tea, bathed their parents’ feet, and fed their mom and dad.

Parent, Lu Peng: He may not understand filial piety very well, but he can appreciate parental love and repay that love. This is how my two-year-old understands the meaning of filial piety.

Preschooler, Jacob Hu: Washing feet. (Why do you want to wash her feet?) Because I want to love her. To thank Mom and Dad for caring for me.

Parent, Lin Fengling: If we teach them this concept from a young age, they will express their love for their parents this way in the future.

Watching her child serve her hot tea, the mother who participated in the Parents Appreciation Day for the first time sensed the sincere love of her child.

Parent, Derryn Chan: When I was sick, (my child) would occasionally bring me water. When I saw her performance today, I could feel that this virtue of filial piety and knowing how to be filial has been engraved in his heart

Love is expressed in a cup of tea and a hug. Verbalizing one’s love was what both parents and children learned in this lesson.
